Angry Is the scoob dead?

Well folks the scoob got picked up this morning to return to the dealers! Was driving it when a loud knocking noise appeared from the engine when i changed down gear, i got home and it was doing it at idle although when i revved it a little it would dissapear. the oil warning light flashed up but only for a few seconds so i checked the oil and it was at the lower level so i topped up a bit the light never came back on but the knocking is still there! any ideas what this could be the car has only done 16000 miles and is a 04 wrx

just got a call from the dealer saying that it was top end damage and that they would be stripping the engine and sorting it under warranty which is a big relief as i have heard lots of horror stories about warranty claims! anyway cars going to be away for a few days and when it comes back will have a nice sti spoiler on it and hopefuly a sweet engine will keep you posted

Ours was at 12k when the big end went, with symptoms like yours (knocking). The oil had just been changed aswell.

i know man but u have to ask what is the story??
if its gettin serviced properly with no corner cutting, letting it warm up and cool down properly and not doing things like bouncin it off the limiter then you shouldnt be gettin most of these probs, these cars can withstand a lot of abuse, ive a v4 type r and she see's a good right footin a few times a week, and 4 of my friends have jdm's too, same story and no probs, are yis english mad or what??
