Default Roof Bars Question

I know some of you will be horified at the concept however,

Has anyone got a MY03 (or bugeye as I believe these are the same) WRX saloon, and fits roof bars and roof box to it ??

If yes do you use a Thule roof bar kit and do you know which one, (I'm getting some varying advice from Thule and their dealers) or did you go with Subaru's own kit ??

Also have you had any issues with the bars being to close together to attach a roof box ?? Another gem of info Thule have just thrown in.

Thanks
Neil

Sacrilege ! Burn him !!

Ok - I admit I had Aero Thule roof bars and a roof box on my 05 wrx saloon when we went down to Devon a few weeks ago. No probs at all with a Thule rack, excellent quality etc..

The bars are standard and you just need to get the correct foot pack - I'm afraid I can't remember which one it is but there was a handy selector thing on a number of websites. You'll also need to buy the locks seperately if you want them...I'll try and dig some more info out for you..

If you do get them I found that the rear bars sat much higher up on the roof than the front which looked a bit odd - it was perfectly solid though and had no problems.

The roofbox itself was just a standard one from Halfords although it did have adjustable fixings to fit a longer or shorter roof..in a carbon fibre look alike finish of course

Thanks for the reply

I think you may have just answered the question. The main problem I've had with Thule is which fitting kit, different web sites make different recomendations and Thule themselves also didn't seem sure on the phone.

The 2 choices were fitting kit 206 or a rapid fit 1210. If your running aerobars you cannot be using the 206 kit as they don't fit, so process of elimination suggests 1210 must do the job OK.

If by any chance you've still go the info to confim that would be great.

Final question can you remember which bars 861 or the slightly longer 869's

I will also be fitting a halfords box with adjustable fittings (silver plastic.doh) so sounds as if this will be OK to.

Now just need to get the tow bar and bike carrier fitted and hey presto, one family car.

Cheers

Phil

Thanks

Hmmm trailer, haven't got one of those..........could probably take kitchen sink on hols then as well !!

The pics of the subaru kit do look like it sits very high, also you can't use aerobars which I fancy as you can fit other attchements, who knows what the kids will want me to cart about as they get older. Either way it sounds as if there will be no problems getting something to fit OK.

Cheers
