Due in for a service at 1000 miles? It should be - lots of posts on here to be found but in a summary it's rumoured to be running in oil until they give it the service - I'm sure 1000 miles will soon fly by - just not as fast as the second 1000 miles

It's painfull yes, but at least your engine, gearbox, brakes etc will have a chance to bed in abit.
Only fools rag a brand new car.

The 4000rpm limit is for good reason, stick to it and you'll have a much sweeter running car later on.

I was told that the dealer limited the new cars to 4000 rpm anyway, till the first service.

Have i been missinformed?

Sort of...
The dealer will normally set the gear change beeper/light to 4k.

Yes. Thinner running in oil for first 1000 miles. 1000 mile service basically an oil change.
