Default 103000 miles too far?

I'm looking at a P reg Impreza turbo 2000 nice price but 103 000 on the clock. It has FSH but..?

Is it a silly idea looking at this car ? Seems clean, but you never really know

That seems a bit pricey to me. I'd be looking to pay £4k - £4,5k for that with mileage like that.

Why worry to much about the mileage? It's seems to have been well looked after, and has a FSH. It would appear a better bet than anything advertised with, '...recently rebuilt engine..'
Obviously the price is negotiable; what are the reasons for the sale, has it been owned from new? etc.
Don't overlook a very honest car that has only been well used; and used well.

I can't see the problem tbh - It has covered 103k which isn't far over the average mileage for a 1996 car plus as already mentioned it has a FSH so has been looked after Make them an offer

Cheers

Ok heres the deal, its a BMW dealer and they are willing to take my sport... which I paid £5500 for. Now as my car mad brother pointed out, it would be a ******* to sell with such high mileage.. obviously I don't get many offers like this and I'm guessing their gonna be after a bit of money too, even though mine is worth more..
I just want a turbo

The really important aspect to the deal is the 'price to change', the trade in value of yours is, relatively, unimportant; you only want to know how much more it will cost you. Is this cost aceptable to you?

Dont be put off by high milers, but be aware of the other ware and tear such as bushes, ball-joints which all ware (i think thats the right one!) with miles and age. A good car is a good car.

I like the car, but and I know I'm being a big girl but I'm worried about failing turbos etc Major costs, I've always been told not to give a car over 100 000 miles a second look

FWIW, many true high milers will potentially have trundled up and down motorways etc, which isn't exactly stressful on the engine/turbo/whatever. Put it another way - I'd much rather have a car with 100k long journeys on the clock and FSH than something with 35k on the clock that has done lots of short journeys, the odd trackday, got a few ill-considered mods and has no service history.

my uk turbo is on 124k on a r plate and i bought it at 56k in that time its only needed a flywheel as mine kept juddering which is excellent for the sort of car it is, mine is quite modified to and been remapped to 19psi and is still going strong no knock on the engine at all but i wouldnt pay 5k though you should be able to knock him down quite a bit

its not about that, my car would be exchanged for it and mines probably worth more.. how would this work then ?

5300 is way too much for that mate, if he's a BMW main dealer he ain't gonna want that kinda motor on his forecourt. 4K is what i'd aim at if I we're you.
Mine is a 96 uk turbo with 93k and i would fall over if someone offered me £5300.

Ritchie.
