iirc you can't have numbers on your car, but *apparently* fast cart/max mower or someone say that you can draw a thin line through them that's barely visible and that makes it alright...
like i said, iirc, and i have a memory like a sieve lol

yeah numbers on your car are illegal, but have never got pulled, and cars on rallies do road sections with them on, but if u got a picky copper u may have an argument on your hands.
But putting a line through it does void it as said by Dave uk blue mica

whats the problem with numbers on doors???? i can see the point if they were near the number plate as they could say you are trying to change your reg or something, but on the doors, it makes no sense! what reason do they give?

its mainly insurance problems with the number on the car thing, you have a crash and they see the number then it can void your insurance

so if your car says the engine size/model badge (eg 2.0sri) on the back then is that illegal as it has numbers? my works van has the phone number plastered across the back - does that have to come off too? and number plates - they got numbers in them! where do they draw the line?

read the first post " is it illegal to have a rally style number on your car? " a rally number is a race number as in the number 5 for burns, your insurance is not covered for motorsports and by putting a number on it like this then makes the car a motorsport car as in they think its a rally car for comps
,unless you sort it out with you insurance company

But why, why, why do you want it to look like that? Is it for the attention?
Doesn't subtlety impinge upon your life at any point? Do you walk around the streets dressed like Timmy Mallett, or the Riddler? Perhaps you have lime green platform shoes emblazoned with the serial number of the USS Enterprise in dayglo orange.

The reason most cars are seen with the numbers with a line through them is that they are genuine competition cars & the organising bodies (BRSCC,BARC,BRDC etc.) forbid any championship cars numbers being exposed on the road. Therefore any cars with numbers that are fully exposed are driven by wannabe race/rally boys & should be given a wide berth at all costs. Tony has mentioned he'll make this illegal at the next sitting of parliament together with whoosing dump valves.

. Lord ha' mercy, what is it about owners that cannot see how ineffably toss this kind of get-up looks on a car that doesn't race? No-one is impressed except ten-year-old kids and the mentally subnormal. Do yourself a favour and get an anonymous wagon and make it go like foof.
