Default what's the differance....

how come
a uk car puts out 200 ish bhp
a early wrx puts out 240 bhp
a later wrx puts out 280 bhp....
what are the mechanical differances ie turbo,cams,boost etc..

my mate just had his early wrx chipped and its running 298 bhp !!!
do the 280 bhp just run more boost/fuel

Not much difference, the early uk engines were the same as the JDM wrx's, the wagons were funny though as it got the td05 in the uk and the td04 in japan, but the ecu and map were probably the biggest differences (plus ABS).
