help on front mount intercoolers

Exclamation help on front mount intercoolers

hi all. help needed as i have a 93 wrx and have just bought a front mount intercooler i have been told that i need to buy a mapable ecu to run this.is this true any help would be grately recieved thanks mrjud

no you don't "need" a mappable ecu but to take full advantage of the intercooler and other mods it would be a worthwhile investent for the future.

what other mods do you suggest i already have a boost controller.hks filter and a full decat stainless thanks for your help

As Jonny Gav says, you would benefit from an ECU remap or a fuel controller - such as the Apexi SAFC or SAFC II - search ebay for them they are universal.

Cheaper ECU options are the Power FC and the ScoobyECU.

Do a search on here for other posts regarding the above.

if it was my car i would be looking at porting the headers next.

then a walbro fuel pump and SX fuel pressure regulator.

then finally an apexi power fc ecu and a set of phase 1 440cc injectors (you could go for 550cc injectors if you think you will be wanting more in the future)

should be good for about 360bhp

if you do it in that order you will only need a remap for when the injectors need to go in

thanks again am i right in my understanding that i am ok to run my car with the intercooler for now. then in a month or so get fuel pump + reg. then when i have more money again get ecu and injectors.thanks for your help advice and info thanks again mrjud
