Unhappy Wooooah there garage!!!

I have just been well and truley STUNG My car MY94 WRX.

Got some standard KYB shocks(£200) from Camskill..(Excellent company BTW) and took then to get fitted to my usuall garage today while i was in work.

Now i got my cambelt done there a few weeks back and it was £350 which even though it a tad high a better known company were going to charge £300 but the petrol to get there and back would have been £40 so i went with the closer option.

I asked what rough price it would be only to be told...'We don't know yet mate'! Fair enough they hadn't done one before so...

I had a full apex kit fitted to my MK4 Astra not long ago which was £100 so i budgeted that.Went to collect the car before and they say

'£200 that mate' :! :! :!

I only had £120 on me so have to take the rest in the morning.I thought the scoob was easy to work on when it comes to the suspension but he said they had to do allsorts and spent an hour a corner doing it.

Oh and PLEASE don't tell me i should have done it myslef i neither have the time nor the equipment

This sound right to you lot? I'm considering getting rid of it now it just eats up my cash

It's a shame you found out the hard way but TBH £200 isn't megabucks.

Was it £200 just for labour or were there minor parts involved?

Just pure labour vindaloo mate He mentioned a few things about things being in the way and they had to remove them but i was still in shock so never caught it really..

I just thought with me using them for 6 odd years that it wouldn't be that much

depends what they did................we tend to charge a little more than that, HOWEVER we do a full geometry alignment when fitted, before return...............

doesn't sound unreasonable to me.

however £350 for a cambelt change is £££ should take less time than the shocks IMHO!

Does that price include alignment... if not you'll need to speed another £90-£140 on that, or be prepared to spend £s on new tyres after they have been eaten.

You may get away with it if they noted the old bolt (camber) position before taking it out.

Then that price is a bargain... £200 to fit 4 shocks (and swap over springs)and alignment too. What more do you want, a bag of grapes and a mars bar????????

WRX cambelt change is same as any Uk turbo (or STi for that matter) so if Uk dealer wants £130 (plus parts i guess) for a turbo yours will be the same.

Tony.
