Default Finally de-tangoed the rear

Finally got off my ar$e and got rid of the orange at the rear.
Just sprayed a set of bulbs from Halfrauds with a coat of silver and ended up with this.......

One little tip that I discovered though - new bulbs from Halfrauds are better than the OEM ones, because if you make a horlicks of it, you can clean the silver paint off and try again with a bit of acetone. Tried this with the originals only to discover that they are painted orange and not orange glass . Got a permamnetly de-tangoed set of bulbs first time like this!!!!!!!

I don't get what you have done actually - indicator bulbs are supposed to be orange (or the Lens is) ...................

Confused??

Just for you I'll demonstrate

Silver over orange means silver looking from the outside http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v201/benjai/OFF.jpg
BUT because the silver layer is very thin, light still gets out, adn because the glass is orange, the bulb lights up orange
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v201/benjai/On.jpg

Same effect as part mirrored tints......

Is it legal?

What price is a new Lens? I suppose you sprayed the Lens?

I have a Classic, is it different?

Looks ok I suppose ..... just don't really understand the logic?

What paint did you use and how much did it cost, might do the front lights and siderepeaters with it.

Sounds cheaper then those silvertec bulbs,

I used plastikote brilliant silver because the paint can lid looked like a really good chrome colour - but it is just silver so any old silver paint will do. I reckon get a small spray can from a model shop for a couple of quid, pair of bulbs about £6, so all in less than a tenner.

Resist the temptation to make the bulbs really silver though (you will notice that they still look very slightly orange), as this has a similar effect to fitting a 1 watt bulb, i.e. more dim than a very dim thing. This was the cause of my first attempt going wrong........

Good luck
