new wing mirror glass

can anyone tell me how to fit a new one please.
car is a 99 sti.
someone at work told me to stick the new one over the cracked one
but this doesnt sound right?

Your work mate must be talking about the replacement glass ffrom Halfords - these stick over the damaged glass

Robby, the glass i bought was from montys, a subaru
dealer in sheffield.
maybe a simple job for some but i've not done one before
and didnt want to damage any wires or whatevers behind it.

i spent ages trying to fit the new glass into the old houseing properlly and just ended up smashing it

so i stuck another over it
