New Sti owner needs help
#1
Friend just bought an Sti 4 type R subaru and just wants to know exactly what the dial thing in the middle beside the handbrake is as the guy selling it never explained it to him. Does it change the torque split between front and rear or what? Set at the back we had it mega sideways in the dry and set forward it seems much more understeer.
The car is P8 WRX if anybody knew the past owner. It also gives a fair back from the diff on full power/gear change/full power type upshifts - is this normal?
Cheers

Had a bit of trouble getting the jist of the problem your mate is having with the, I think, noise from the rear diff, this may be a case for new bushes as I don't get any clunks from the back, but the problem has been reported by someone else. I think he replaced the bushes and the prob dissapeared.

The diff lock should never be used on Fully locked, i.e a t the top of the gauge. Normally I have mine set at the bottom, showing green. Causes a bit of sideways action , and when it's wet, set it at the second or third amber light. The steering wil load up a bit
The diff will clunk occasionally on up-shifts. Just part of the fun!
