been out of scoob ownership for a while, haev owned modded 2001 wrx, & 2 uk turbos' but not had a early jap wrx.
i am guessing these are the cars that earned subaru the name in reliability/speed etc. is there anything i need to know additionally when buying a jap import car? servicing/cambelts/sva's/ also am i ok on SUL / optimax or is unleaded acceptable?
also i'm sure there a website with power figures & specs on

Having owned an MY93 for nearly three years, the only real differences you'll notice is Subaru UK are generally unwilling to help in the spares department , Normal unleaded just doesnt work Everything else is the same as a UK apart from more power and no bright button

Oh and an MY94 will have 240-260bhp, check the chassis no. on the SIDC FAQ's

I have an M-Reg 94 WRX. Servicing/cambelts etc. same as UK.

Fuel - like most who haven't remapped/changed ECU, I use Optimax plus Octane booster. Am currently considering changing ECU though for £100 (group buy at the mo on CustomScoobies ECU), which means you can use Optimax/SUL on its own.

Before Sep 94, 240ps (about 236bhp).
After Sep 94, 260ps (256bhp).

240 ones generally have the red/black seats and 260 the grey/black seats.

Insurance will be more than a UK model, as classed as Gp 20 instead of 17 for UK. If you are over 30 though not a problem with Liverpool and Victoria, they are not bothered about mods at all and don't insist on tracker like a lot of them do - £700 for me but 35 with 7 yrs NCB.

I've only had mine a few months but love it. Full de-cat and panel filter and pushes out 280bhp. £5k - gotta be a bargain
