Hi

Just a word of warning if you are travelling through West and East Sussex. I've been told that Sussex police are having a crack down on speeding - especially in the 30mph areas. Anything above 35 and you WILL get a fixed penalty and 3 points. This is meant to be going on throughout the month of July.

No one is encouraging speeding (especially in 30 mph areas), but 5 mph isn't much - so you've been warned!

Can any of the Sussex boys & girls confirm this?

Chris

Thanks for the warning; I'm off to Shoreham next weekend; was going to show off the MY00 to my sister and brother-in-law; I might have to take them on a longer trip, perhaps through Kent and Essex; shame!!

35+ in a 30 is the "guideline" of 10% limit + 2mph

For 40 that is 46 etc

I can confirm this. I am in Rudgwick right on the Sussex/Surrey border. My pal drives a Merc as a limousine hire car and went through a gun just before it was set up in the village (30 mph limit). He would have got a ticket and was pulled over on his return (doing 29.99) and given a sound lecture about losing his hire license if he had been caught. Police confirmed a crackdown for a couple of weeks. Watch it on the A281 (Horsham/Guildford road) at Bucks Green as this was a 60 and now 30 and very easy to forget. DL

Yep it's true, I'm in Storrington (between Horsham and worthing an the A24). Local reports of 'ZERO' tolerances in the 30 MPH limit in and around the village..poo

Cool

I got flashed by a Gatso in West Wittering (or was it East?) whilst down there for the Festival of Speed, but so far no NIP. It was over 2 weeks ago so I think I'm in the clear.
I suspect it was a dummy as I don't remember any lines on the road. Phew! I'm glad to get back to good old Cumbria where they're too busy shutting down rural Police stations to worry about Gatsos.

Thumbs down

Yep, I can confirm this. All the Gatsos are set to 35 (I saw one catch about 8 cars in a row) and a very nive policeman told me in no uncertain terms that above 35 in a 30 and you will be nicked. Having said that, he let me off but I think that was in their "PR" phase.

Give it a couple of months and it'll all calm down again. Obviously a budget surplus in Traffic at the moment!
