Isn't it just typical that some people think they can just enter into a car of this calibre and drive it as it should be driven only after several months of practice? Just gives real drivers a bad name.

That's correct. The assumption is based on the inference that if the police is looking for witnesses there is probably discrepancy between what the ininjured driver is claiming and what the experienced but badly injured Subaru salesman is claiming (if he is in a position to do so). Mostly such accidents do not reach the press.

 

Can't see how the "several months of practice" comes into it. The article makes it clear that the salesman was the passenger (injured) and the customer was the driver (uninjured).

 

In that case I misread it. Apologies. Must be my English rather than driving skills needing a clean-up.
