Been away for a few days and came to start the car this morning to find that the starter motor was turning but no sign of starting....left for a few hours then tried again,this time along with not starting I smelt smoke/burning plastic and saw it coming from the bottom part of the engine, along with what sounds like a shorting sound for a few minutes, even after the keys were removed....the car is only 6 weeks old, standard UK and not what I expected !!!!

Anyone got any suggestions ?

Sounds like you could have the same engine master relay problem with the leads melting as another recent post and ourselves....I would suggest you let your dealer take a look..

Thanks for the advice, I'm going to get it there tomorrow and I'll mention your experience.....could be one for the FAQ if that turns out to be the problem.
