Snooper S1
With this being so cheap (£75) is it any good? Dont need a fancy one as 90% of milage is done local and know where plod hangs out and the fixed cameras are.Just wonderd if it was worth buying for the odd trip into uncharted territory?
cheers manners.

In a word, no.
I have a Snooper S6-R Neo which is virtually useless except for spotting fixed camera sites (and it does this by Global Positioning database), so I expect a radar detector costing less than a quarter of this would be even worse. AFAIK the S1 can only detect K-band radar and laser : radar is rarely used by the Five-O these days in preference to VASCAR (time between two points) and mobile cameras which use laser. If you are targetted by a laser you are as good as nicked as it only takes a second or two to get a reading.
The only way to avoid that NIP if you insist on speeding is to buy a Road Angel / Origin / S6-R to take care of the fixed sites and a LRC-100 laser jammer for the mobile cameras. Trouble is that little lot will probs set you back the thick end of £600-700
