Default How to remove a rear caliper by hand?

just had a call from my mate whos rear caliper as seized on his turbo 2000 stuck in london somewhere, he wants to know how to take it off till he gets home, hes near a halfords so can buy the necessary tools,

what tools are needed and how to do it?

cant he knock the pins out and take the offending brake pads out?

hammer and and pin?
probably a brake line clamp as well to stop that calliper working when you press the brakes, its a bit iffy tho
