Question decat downpipe help

hi
just after some info, i bought my98 turbo not that long ago and i was given a decat downpipe with it, it has got a wrx rebuilt engine with sti internals and low ratio box k&n induction kit, straight through back box and its running 15 psi with manual boost control under bonnet, i was just wondering what sort of bhp do you think this will be producing and what sort of increase would the decat have on it if any.

thanx

Mayb 15-20 bhp.

TBH though, the biggest difference will be found in driveability (rather than out right power increase). The turbo will spool up much faster and the engine will be less strangled at the lower rpm.

see this is y i dont know whether to put it on cause drivability isnt a prob with mine as it has got low ratio box could start off in fourth if wanted to and it would just keep pulling, the thing is if u give it some stick in first its that quick it always hits rev limitr b4 u can change gear into second

I think you really need to drive one to properly understand but;

If you could close your eyes and imagine what the power curve on your scoob looks like, most people would say it starts out quite low and flat, then after 3,000 rpm becomes a lot steeper. Well, with a decat that whole line 'feels' a lot straighter/smoother.

I have a UK Turbo 2000 that's fully decat. When I woz looking at new cars I tested a Type R STi. This car had a short ratio box, and ooodles more power, but it had it's cats still in place. And below 3,000 rpm it felt gutless, even compared to my uk model.

I've since bought a Type RA STi, but it's bin decat. It would always be 1 of the first mods I do to a scoob.

The only downside to be aware of is that it does raise noise levels, though for most people that seems to be an upside
