With the Accord Type-R going back next month, I'm looking to place an order for a new STi (UK) shortly - can't really believe local dealers apathy though 
, so will probably end up ordering off drivethedeal.com
Couple of quick Newbie-style questions (sorry couldn't find answers to these anywhere!):
- will the STi run on 95 RON at all
(appreciate it will run better on Optimax, like the Honda, but work fuel cards don't allow it, so it would have to be at my own cost)
- what's typical leadtime on a new STi UK (probably WR blue or black) from dealers?

The handbook that comes with the car recommends 98RON although it states 95RON can be used it doesn't recommend it. Nor do most people that have them....Optimax all the way for me! 
The lead time for my Black STi was 6 weeks although it ended up arriving 3 weeks early! Blue ones can sometimes be had earlier than that.

Its not ideal to run on 95 ron but you could always fit a knocklink to warn you of det.

Had mine a year now and said to myself that I would only use 95 in an emergency. I still haven't had an emergency plus there is always a can of octane improver in the boot

If your doing work miles and if you can keep a grip on using warp drive then technicaly thier should be no problem for the car to run on UL95...
I use my car for work and if doing a long run will opt for UL, just keep off the loud pedal and drive as normal and it shouldn't make a difference...
If you start thrapping it around on 95 though the ECO will be trying to compensate constantly altering the timing and fuel flow. keep it up and it won't do it any good.
At least go for Optumax or SUL on a weekend...!
I asked this question to a very knowledgable German BMW engine designer when in Munich and thats exactly he said. No problems so long as you don't push hard.

Why not use the 95 ron (FOC on your card) and just top up with octane booster as needed (cheaper for you in the long run).
