Question

My old WRX had a standard 50/50 split front and rear. It understeered progresively on the limit.

Newer WRX do they have the same type of diff. Is the power split 50/50. Is the handling on the limit the same?

Can some one tell me exactly what extras you get if you go for an Sti7/8. What diff do they have.

Can some one tell me exactly what extras you get if you go for PPP on top of this

I am still stuck in the world of classics and would like to know a bit more about the newer cars, for when I get my next one.

Thanks peeps
Steve

Think the UK STi8 is still 50-50 with a viscous LSD, the JDM uses DCCD variable split diff.

You get a mechanical Suretrac torque biasing diff for the front, ie a multiple of the torque sent to the slipping wheel is sent to the none slipping wheel dependant on the amout of slip upto a multiple of about 5, it will not lockup. Which of course means that if the slipping wheel is on ice, the torque it gets is bugger all therfore the other wheel gets 5 times bugger all, which is..... bugger all !!!!

The rear is also mechanical, I suppose its a plate type, but not sure.
