I bought my first scoob in March, MY96 wagon uk spec and std oem valve. I got the impression that dump-valves were frowned upon at that time.

Why is it that they seem to have become the latest mod to have? I have a baily dump valve, very little turbo lag and a smile inducing whoosh!!

Have scoobs become the new Escort RS Turbo ( flame suit on ).

Skoosh.

I'm a boy racer at heart but I can afford a scooby! (barely)

There's certainly no need to change unless the standard one's either broken or you're running enough boost to make it leak. This much is just as true now as it was last March, and indeed the people who "frown" on aftermarket dump valves probably still do.

Why is it that they seem to have become the latest mod to have?
They haven't. Maybe that's just an impression you've gained from reading a few DV related threads?

Lol! It's probably fair to say that as the older ones become cheaper, they're becoming more affordable to people who're more interested in posing than in the pure performance aspects of the car, yeah.

I don't like them - sounds like your car is sneezing all way down the road.

Also makes no performance difference unless your running extra boost

Its generally accepted that if you need to hold more boost then you can put an aftermarket one on which is recirculating so there is no real reason for a vent to atmosphere whatever, unless you like the sound, which i do
