hello people, asking for a bit off help, can someone tell me when the version 2 started production, looking to buy a scooby turbo wagon and prefer the styling on the v2. Seen one on a m plate 1995 but most m&n reg cars are still in the v1 style. Many thanx.

What do you mean by "version 2"? Are you talking about the STi versions, or the range-wide cosmetic facelifts?

The STi version 2 was in production during model year 1996 (September '95 to August '96), while the first facelift (new interior, bonnet, headlights) was introduced on the MY97 cars. The second facelift (lensless freeform headlights, restyled front bumper) came in with MY99.

This is the first facelift 97/98 motor

This is the MY00 with bumper change (that came in on the 99 model)

Or do you mean the MY01 models ?

i was told that the version one was the first scoob with version 2 having a restyled front bonnet and bumper, don't know if they meant the sti but the 97/98 above is the one, thanx.
next questioned did they do that bonnet style in scoobs before 97/98 as i've seen one on a m plate, or could i be stupid and they've just fitted a newer bonnet.

Someone's leading you up the garden path a bit with this talk of "versions", as the only time Subaru use that word officially is in connection with the STi's. What you were told is correct in essence, in that the classic shape car had three distinct "looks", but it gets a bit confusing using the word "version" to describe them, as that has its own special meaning in Subaru-speak!

You're not being stupid, a few people have done that, no problem getting hold of facelift bonnets and other bits from a scrappy.

Only the MY97 and onward Imprezas have the newer bonnet as standard, but it is possible to retrofit the newer bits to an older car, and certainly a few people here have done it.
