It happened to me!
I've been a named driver on my wife's policy for 6 years (when we met i couldn't afford to run my own car) and this year Admiral let me have Full no claims on my own seperate car, despite not having held insurance in my own name for over 5 years!
Good old Admiral, hehe - the fact that we still ended up paying £900 for the 22B probably helped, but at least the escort is cheap!

uk turbo impreza my97
always been on farthers insurance since passin' test at 17!
(saved pounds!!!) this year the insurance went to 70% no clains (as Daddy is over 50) and we had it protected
£738 a year give or take a penny or two.
insurance guy says tonite that now over 25 I can transfer the insurance from my father to my own! giving me the 67% no-claims and also protected! (not 70% as not over 50, 67% being the most u can get)would have to pay only the extra 3% on £738.

Has anyone else heard of this happening? thought I would have to start from scratch, or at least 35% like I got told by Last years insurance man!?!?
insurance is with the Co-Op and has a £50 excess!!!!!!!

JUST RANG THEM UP AND IT IS TRUE ALL I WILL PAY IS THE 3% extra how good is that???

Thumbs up

You lucky sod!

My dad's 52 and I'm 27. I wish I could have transferred his no claims to mine. Maybe then I wouldn't be paying over £1000.

First time I've heard of an insurance company actually being helpfl in saving you some money.

Congratualtions anyway,

Stefan

Talking

S-K

"off bite hand" - rearrange into a well known saying or phrase

Simply don't argue - do it, just make sure proposal form is 100% clear about main driver etc. (slippery buggers these insurers ya know!)

Even better still if you get quote in writing first (all details of details naturally). Not mistrusting but these chaps are rather famous for promising then doing the "ah, we weren't aware of that information at the time . . " routine (they are salesmen after all!!)

go for it - just pin 'em down every step of the way (use sentences involving the use of the "insurance ombudsman" if they start backtracking!!)
