Just cleaning my car the other day, and found a little box with in my arm rest with the words subaru on it and two sponge pads in side. Size of the box is about the size of a match box and also has a key chain on it. Does anyone know what it is?

Sounds like the holder for the removable CD/Radio control panel. Quite handy really.

Cheers

Er, so is mine Harry... The removable cover is small and square on the HiFi in my 02 WRX, and fits into a small, square, black box with Subaru on the side, foam inside and a Key Ring attachment.
