Exclamation

hi all, sorry if this is a bit long winded...
have been feeling lately that my sti2 isnt as quick as used to be, but was putting this down to me getting used to the car, as ive only had it around 6 months and its my first turbo, but....
decided to give it a blast (on a long stretch of private road ;-)), and think something may be wrong. at 140mph im almost hitting 7000rpm on rev counter, yet when i first got it i remember doing 145mph easily with plenty power left..
anyone any ideas.
what speed do other sti2 (or similar) drivers get at various revs?
lower down, im getting 80 mph at 4000rpm, 100 mph at 5000rpm, 120 mph at 6000rpm...
dont think this is right, but maybe expectin too much ??

any help/advice would be great here as i'm really starting to worry about this

ta, dodge

My STI 2 does about 97 - 98 at 5k in top, so 140 would be hitting rev limiter, also speedo reads slightly fast when the speed gets up. so its probably around 135. Cannot see how you got 145 out of it.

Do not really need the top speed, just good acceleration.

p.s if yours has the low ratio box, which i think it has, in top they are geared to do 21.8 mph per 1000rpm in 5th, also my rev counter has allready packed up once, and before doing so my rpm, to mph figures were all over the place, but going off your,s mine reads the same, except at 6000 rpm yours reads slower than mine ever has, think my final drive ratio is 4.441, will need to check, any way i rem subaru quoted 21.8 mph per 1000 rpm, so whats 21.8 times 7. =152.6 mph hope this helps too lol

Unhappy

hmm, was out for a spin yesterday, and checked my speed at various revs. in 5th gear i'm getting bang on 20mph/1000rpm, so max speed of 145mph. i can live with that, but still worried that something maybe wrong, especially if it should be 21.8mph/1000rpm!
more worrying, i am only getting 85/90mph at 7000rpm in 3rd and 110mph at 7000rpm in 4th! is this right for an (fully de-catted)sti2?
think i will book it in to get checked out, but any advice/ info more than welcome....

cheers, dodge

Hi - I have an STi version 2 (555 Edition) - Andy555 and I did some testing and I get 100 @ 4600 in 5th although this may be put down to the gearbox

I get 100 mph its showing as over 5k, and the speedo is reading a bit fast. So gearing on mine is simililar to RA gearing. No sure about yours Adam, you might have a longer 5th.

I think Andy and Dodge have got the standard STi version 2 gearbox and I believe I have had the RA gearbox put in...

Can anyone who has a STi Version 2 TypeRA confirm this and tell us their tacho reading @ 100 mph in 5th....
