Airbag actuator is a small explosive, so courier with "Fragile" stickers on the parcel would be the minimum I'd say.

i used to work for a nissan dealer that when we had to send an airbag back to nissan under warrenty had to be exploded (which was great fun) before it could be sent by courier. this is because, as said, they are explosive and the courier wouldn't take them.

might not be the same for all courier companies though.

Hi all,

the legal position on this is dead easy (no pun intended)

an air bag is classed as an explosive

the ident required on any road transport was

an orange diamond, with if my memory serves me correctly a 1.4 category stamp.

i believe that as they improved they went to a black based diamond with black vertical stripes and a 1.1 designator.

however the airbag must have it anti deployment system in place, and must as a minimum be packed in tripple layeered cardbord boxes encased with antistatic foam chippings.

you must declare its type of explosive by way of the hazard diamonds,, failure to do so will leave you liable to prosecution

and dont **** about with these beastys... i worked as a technician for the company that makes 3/3 of all the uk airbags in the right hands there as sagfe as houses,, treat them incorrectly and they will deploy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and you dont get any warnings... they deploy in milliseconds!!!!

hope this helps

Mart

oops

forgot to add,,

you can only send by road or rail,,, as its an explosive,
and may also contain a propellant under pressure, depending on the type of bag...
which is why air freight is out
