Question

Hi all

I have a question. When I spin with my scooby and speed, after that a terrible smell comes out. I v asked some guys in garage, they told me it is oil leaking. But it smells like coolant. I am not very sure, what problem it is actually. is there any other scooby fans have same problem as i have?

I am very happy being the member here. i am just a beginner in the field of scooby world. four months ago, i bought a Jap import scooby (M reg, version 2) in black. Engin, suspensions, springs, exhaust and etc have fully modified, 280 bhp, 0 to 60 only 5.2 sec. Recently i installed a rev counter on the right hand of dash board. And after i intend to fit boost gauge (Blitz), oil temp gauge, oil pressure gauge and exhaust temp gauge. Is there some suggestions for my recent project? I need experience of scooby mods!

Cheers

any idea where it's coming from? Do you have a metal coolant tank? (cant remember what age of car they started on) as early non metal uns did tend to leak alternatively it could be leaking oil mine occasionally gives a puff of smoke thru the scoop which i initially though was my metal coolant tank doing one but it turns out it was/is actually the rocker gasket seal thing which i'm getting changed on Thursday.
Few suggestions then but impossible to tell really with the limited description of the problem

From Luton, I could have popped in just got back from there.....

Sounds like clutch initially, though its important to engage gear first, let the clutch out, then boot the thing.

If you engage gear, boot the thing, then release clutch you will get a nasty smell.

If its not this then it could be oil from a rocker cover gasket, or other gasket dripping onto the manifold/exhaust. Equally it could be a front cam seal. Easily checked by a specialist.

If you have had a recent antifreeze top up, some might have spilled over again onto the exhaust & this can take weeks before the smell vanishes completely
