I have a MY98 UK turbo. Havent really done any performance mods. But do fancy a dump valve. I have heard it affects the idling.

Should i or shouldnt i? And if yes, what make?

It's not a performance mod either, It just makes a noise.

Do they not create a quicker turbo response?

Still, any advice on which ones? Or if they affect idling?

I wouldn't go back to the OE myself. I tried it a while ago an it really was jerky between the gears There will be plenty of people who will say thats bo11ox - so what, each to their own
I myself have a Forge VTA which is a popular choice as Forge after sales service is excellent
