Cambelt Failure Experience
#1
hi KAto!
I believe you speak in miles of course.
Mine was changed at 105000 kms (MY94) an the cambelt still looks like very good compare to a new one.
It's so big and large that I believe it's not a cheap one (the price too).
So, ok, in my opinion keep confident it's not a Ford...

Has anyone experienced a cambelt failure??
I have a 95 WRX with about 42K on the clock the MY98 UK service book says change at 60K or 48 Months. My Autodata Timing Belt Book says 45K or 36 Months.
Yes OK I will get round to doing it soon, but do I have to worry that the belt will go bang on me??
Awaiting your replies

Is it worth taking the chance? I picked up my MY95 WRX in Feb. with 76K on the clock. Chances are that the cambelt was done at the correct time in Japan but I didn't want to chance it and it was the first thing I changed when I picked up the car from the dealer. It cost £112.00 for the belt and £120.00 for the labour (it's a 3 hour job). So for the sake of approx. £250 I've got peace of mind! It could cost you a lot more if it goes
