My wife has decided that if I dont fix the seats in the front of my MY00 the car will have to go - the seats are causing the muscles in her back to spasm. The chiropractor has advised her that buckets seats are causing the problem. He said that the cause poor weight distribution and uneven pressure on the spine. Her back is so bad she cant sit (anywhere) for more than a few minutes.

I wonder if there is there some sort of seat insert that may help?

Or will I have to look at replacement seats?

Moderators - I know this should be in the interiors part but I need an urgent response - could you leave this one for 24 hrs on General? Thanks.

Brooks

Recaro make an orthopedic seat and are meant to be fantastic for back sufferes. The only drawback is that they are about £900 each.

Maybe a seat out of a GL spec Impreza would help her, without the side bolsters holding her in place maybe she could find a more comfortable position to sit in.

The drivers seat in our car is much more comfy than the passengers...it has height adjustment the passenger lacks(well it drops the back edge of the seat which helps me get support. Can you get another drivers seat, and will that fit?

Worth asking the physiotherapists for help-they will have the best experience and information.

Might be a good idea that Cman, maybe a drivers seat from a left hooker (assuming Brooks is in the UK?) will fit straight in and put the controls at the "right" (left ) side?

And LOL at Recaro spelling it "Imprezza"

I have been see-ing the Physio for the last couple of months, thought it was caused by picking up a heavy server at work. Now thinking it may be down to the scoob as it really does give me grief if driving for more than an hour.

Recaro. Prodrive do an optional front seat upgrade based on recaros for around 1500 quid. I was seriously considering it in my MY00 until I got used to the seats and got them adjusted right.

Or drivers seat from a left hooker - I like that idea...

Are you looking to get rid of both seats?
I'll do a straight swap with my Forester seats!
I have been planning to swap to buckets for a while.
The Forester ones are easy swaps and require no fiddling with runners etc as they are identical.
If interested, send an e-mail to nick@n-a-b.co.uk

Thank you all for all your ideas and help so far.

This was all triggered by a 4.5 hour drive on Friday. The problem is I will be soon using the car for a 14 hour drive and she will have to sit in the same seat! She did sit in the back for 3 hours last time we used the car.

Thanks for the offer of swaps - but I want to keep the original seats for when I come to sell the car.

I may be forced to buy the special Recaros, ouch........

I wish there was an alternative!

Thanks again people,

Simon
