Anyone know if the paint on a 03 WRX is any better than on a 01/02. I am considering an 03 WRX and need to know if the Metallic Mica Black is a good idea or not (based on the scratchy nature of the paint on the 01/02's vs the 03's). Has anyone used a paint "armor" type product to any success. (those special glaze polishes)

 

Can't say from absolute experience compared to the 02, but the 03 paint seems just as crap as the 00 paint. I've got silver, and there's a few chips already

 

I've got an 03 STI in WRX Blue and the paint is crap. The lower section of the rear spoiler has not even been painted completly. It looks like they have just dusted with paint and it's all patchy. It has been to two dealers and a Subaru bodyshop for inspection (all have agreed there is a problem), but Subaru are coming to inspect it on monday with a view to repainting various bits. Still thats not the worst bit of paint, I have had some (not going to swear here)person have a go at the bonnet with a hammer while it was parked up.
