I am getting increasingly annoyed with static on my new WRX 03,1 hour after washing, and drying the car off with a chamois leather,I seem to get a build up of dust all over the car.
Anyone shed any light on this, as I dont want to end up with one of those rubber strips hanging down from the back of the car.

Thumbs up

Interesting! I noticed this a week back around the spoiler area. Would like some idea of what's causing this as well.

Thanks

a thread similar to this came up on here a couple of months ago, it ended up with some very technical answers with weather conditions, speed, humidity, waxing etc.just seemed some people was more prone to attacks than others. it was a great thread saying ways to overcome this ,for instance "i leap from my car like exiting from a race car, hands on the roofand feet first so i dont touch anything"........ "let the missus get out first"......some people could even see the sparks jump across to them, i got them the first week or so and thought bloody hell is this the way its going to be, but never get them now , the missus does though every now and then, i can live with that though.

Get out the car and be touching metal when your foot touches the ground.

It's not the car, it's your nylon y-fronts

Seriously, reach up and touch the roof whilst climbing out of the car BEFORE your foot touches the ground and you'll earth yourself through your shoes. Result? no pain
