my03 owners manuals question
#1
when i bought my 03 wrx, i got home and excitedly opened the owners manual to find that it was for a bugeye model. all the external pictures were of the bugeye thingy, the stereo operation bit was for a stereo which doesn't resemble mine and there are obviously a few other differences.
now i don't mind it that much because i can work out for myself how to turn wipers on and how to push the rear demister button with my finger but i'm just wondering was this a general thing or did the dealer just see me coming and flung any old thing in the glove compartment.

that is really bad...i'd definitely insist on the correct manual for a 20K car...
i had a dummy cigarette lighter in my STi8...i don't smoke but still, the cheeky buggers

well mine's going in for a 1K service soon, so they can give me a new book, a new driver's door speaker (on delivery it's was flapping like a big flappy thing) and there is a rattle on the tailgate too that they can sort.
minor things, but like you said slacker, for 20k.........
still my main priority is to get the thing serviced so i can play with it properly.....and to get the dent in the door fixed which happened when, only 3 days after picking the thing up, a cyclist decided to drive along the pavement and ram himself into my passenger door, he was hurt slightly (shame).
but, i'm not moaning, enjoying the wrx enormously already.

My MY03 came with a bug-eye manual. I still haven't worked out how to make the internal lighs come on when I open the car. The manual says to put the switch in the middle position. Unfortunately the switch is a pushy, not a rocker so there is no middle position. Was this something they changed for the 03 and can anyone tell me what to do?

Just got an MY03 and no manuals yet (not worried) but can I ask two questions:
What is the rocker switch for on top of the steering column ahead of the steering wheel??
Also, what is the 'mist' for on the wiper stalk?
The infamous 'bright' switch is a major cool feature, worth buying the car for alone !!!

steering wheel switch is for the parking lights - if you want them on when the key's out of the ignition (no key normally means no power anywhere - Subaru trait) - make sure you only use it when you need it - it will run the battery flat!
the mist thingy allows the wipers to run once - i.e. just pull the lever once = one wipe.
Oh - and my 03 came with an 02 manual - benelux apparently hadn't updated them

Where did you get your 03WRX from. I'm due to pick mine up from the Widnes dealer in about a week and I'm a bit concerned about this 'no manual' palaver. Also, I'm intrigued - what's the bright switch?

bright switch is for use on those foggy days when you have to drive in the daylight with headlights on - it miraculously stops the clock and odometer from dimming as it would normally do at night.

1MPR3Z4,
I got it from Euro import not Mainland. Broker said he will forward it this week and I'm sure he will.
Maybe need to speak to Mainland soon to see their attitude to servicing Euro imports? Does anyone know?

btw - just checked and found I was lying about the manual.
My 03 came with an 03 owners manual.
It was an 02 service book it came with (cos obv. that's the thing that benelux produce)
