Sorry nothing to do with female anatomy , but nobody ever visits the boring posts !!
Having recently sold my 97 Turbo and bought a new one , the fuel consumption seems to have gone up , can't think it's the extra couple of horses , and am not using the air con at the moment . does the consumption get a bit better after a few thousand miles if so when ? Its dificult for me to judge as we do more miles now than when the 97 was new , and as I could never bring myself to check the specific fuel consumption I was getting with the old car ( I didn't want to talk myself out of buying another ) it's not a lot of good checking the new one !
Hope all that made sense , if you're still awake I'd be interested to hear your views , If you "can't be arsed" I quite understand It's a very dreary subject

I Stancer,
until the car is nice and run in, the fuel consumption will be higher. The engine is tight and resistance is higher. I had a new Passat Turbo and the fuel economy was 5 or 6 mpg better after 2000-3000 miles

My 97MY used to give me about 27mpg running about as I do. My 99MY gives me about 25mpg doing the same running about. I thought the 99MY was meant to be better on fuel due to the new head design, it also surges when cold and running 95ron. The fuel consumption on 97 ron is worse than 95ron, but the car is a lot smoother and doesnt surge when cold.
I havent noticed any difference in fuel consumption when using the air conditioning.
My 97MY fuel consumption was noticeably better just before I got rid of it at 28000 miles and was approaching 29mpg at times.
My advice-best not to think about it, put the juice in and enjoy the car.
Regards
Greg

You have to stop worrying about the fuel consumption, it spoils your driving pleasure.
My MY99 returns about 22 mpg.
I also get the juddering when cold. Does using 97 ron really cure this?

What's all this 22mpg, 25mpg, 27mpg ......
I WISH!!
18-19mpg at best out of my 99MY UK Turbo.
Oh.. but what miles they are!!
As for juddering, only when it's going round corners and it's low of fuel... again!
My brothers WRX seems to do better than mine. He mentioned something about 'driving-styles' I've no idea what he's talking about??

300 miles per tank, then start worrying and sweating, that's all the consumption figures you need. (MY00 5,500 miles)
It has got better as I have done more miles, or more likely I just don't care any more!
