Hi guys

I have a chance of a jap STI 7 ecu and was wondering if it would work in my MY97 ??? because they run at about 300bhp but thought it would just blow my MY97 up.
It might sound a stupid idea but thought id ask anyway.

I doubt it would work at all, as there are significant wiring loom differences, followed by engine & sensor differences. You'd need a remap of the ECU as well, if you defeated all of the hardware problems. (Not difficult on the new cars, apparently)

I know there's not a lot of options for the 97/98 Imprezas but I don't think this will work easily.

It would be mapped for different injectors, turbo, sensors, etc etc etc etc. Personally I wouldnt touch it, could end up with a whole host of problems.

Also the STi 7 have variable valve timing IIRC, which your MY97 wont have.
