What can anyone tell me about an Impreza Turbo 2000 98 UK spec.... Are they reliable, any known problems with that year?

Yes they are reliable. Few little niggles with clutch judder and some people have had problems with piston slap but nothing else. I had mine for 30k miles and it's now up to around 65k with its new owner.

Mine is about to turn 80K miles. Guy i had it from ran it on 95UL, serviced when required, towed a glider, no TLC. I give it TLC and run on optimax. Sure I drive harder than he did but no glider! It has "touch wood" never had anything wrong - only wear and tear e.g. tyres, bulbs etc. Please please please god of sods law dont let it blow up now I posted this
