Get my STi tomorrow, minus PPP for a while, unfortunately.
I went to see it today, sitting out in the rain at the dealership.
It was all I could do to restrain myself from lying on the roof in an attempt to stop it getting wet. I think it will get a large proportion of its 1000 mile run in done tomorrow. Anyone taking theirs out for an extended pootle tomorrow ?

Does the car need to go back to the dealer after the 1st 1000?

Hoping to get mine done as 'fast' as possible (if you pardon the pun)

BTW, what is a recommended/sensible 'restraint' policy for the 1st 1000 miles?

Silverback, I just posted a thread about running in. I suspect there's a lot of experience to be tapped on this board about such things.

XT, in retrospect a "Running in Day" would have been a bonzer idea......perhaps a little late to organise it for tomorrow now. However, it will (probably) take more than one day to rack up that grand.....

of course you can't do 1000miles in one day, i just thought that if you people did it like a meeting, it would be a much more pleasant procedure for most of the running-in mileage. What about a running-in week?

XT, in saying it couldn't be done in a day, ie the first day, I meant there is a chance for doing part of the mileage at a later date. I think your idea is a good one, sorry if you got the wrong end of the stick.

That's some serious machinery on your driveway Boyakasha. Have got machine-gun nests and a moat ???

lol, we are very lucky where we live as it is very quiet and the cars are always garaged. But machine gun nest could be positioned to take out any unwanted theives

Good luck with the new ones. Just take it easy the first miles and make sure you have something to wipe the dribble off with.

I've now been told "sometime in March" for my PPP. I'm actually not too bothered because it gives me a chance to run the thing in at 261bhp and get used to it for a while so that I can more fully appreciate the effect of the PPP's 300bhp.

So I'm not jealous philgr, honest................ You lucky git.

My STi turns up in 2 hrs, just can't drive it til midnight. Would have got it early tomorrow, but the lazy dealer won't get up for my 8am start.

Try having one on the driveway for 5 hours and you can't touch it. Well not unless you live on a manor
