Has anybody had a scooby written off and then bought the salvage off the insurance company?? I have just had my 94 wrx wrecked, see http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/thread.asp?threadid=180159 Anyone got any ideas how much i should offer the insurance company for it, I intend to break the car and sell the parts.

Cheers Scott

Thumbs up

Been there done that, my old 93 WRX was crushed a bit (front & rear) in two seperate crashes and it had sustained just over 5K worth of repairable damage.
I said to them either fix it or give me 5K cash & the car, Their reply was they would give me 4K and the car so I bluntly told them to fix it, so they had a rethink and offered me 4.5K, so I bluntly told them to fix it, so they had a rethink and offered me 5K.
This I accepted and bought the car off them for a token pound and sold it the next day for £3500. So I ended up getting £8500 for a 75,000 mile 93WRX which was not bad.

The thing you should be aware of is that its not easy selling off the parts so get your buyers interested before you buy it off the ins co as you could be out of pocket.
Better to sell it whole if you can, good luck........

Damn that looks quite bad!

If I were you I would personally see what the ins co give you first!

Cos I persoanlly dont see it that worthy of running around for a few bob,

What you should do is try placing these pics in the auto trader as salvage and see what or if any response you get.
Then you will be able to tell what kind of price its worth.

Remember it depends on how much damage is dont underneath the car. i.e. chassis damage cross members, axle (assuming its a AWD) that might cost a bit.

All things need to be taken into consideration when trying to offer a price for your car!

Hope that has helped mate, takecare!
