My car was in for a service yesterday, and while I waited to pay & get my keys I chatted to the parts dude about back boxes. Conversation went like this!

Me - I want a replacement BB, doing some shopping about on prices etc, what do you sell & recomend?
him - Prodrive or scoobysport.
me - how much do YOU sell them for?
him - gave me prices.
me - OK, Sounds about the same as anywwhere else.
him - plus £50 to fit
me - which is best?
him - Prodrive one
me - is that the same as the P1 BB?
him - No. P1 is slightly tuned for that particular car, the normal prodrive one is better. Is your car still under warranty?
me - Yes, till Aug 2004.
him - Ah, well a BB would invalidate your warranty. If you made a claim and Subaru UK asked to inspect your car or for us to inspect it, they may declare your waranty invalid.
me - When I fitted one to my sport, you said it would be OK!
him - I dont remember that.
me - what if I bought it from you, and it was the recomended Prodrive one?
him - still would void your warranty.
me - but is the recomeded one, like if I got a PPP! Thats mad!
him - cant be helped
me - So the P1 must have no warranty from new then, as that has a Prodrive BB?
him - No, thats Ok cos it has that BB from new.
Me - brain meltdown. walked away. resisted urge to bludgeon him to death with the center section on the back wall! Drove home quickly.

did he actually work there,or was there a local day trip from the local madhouse.
Think he must of bin quoting from the "lets try and screw as many people as possible"manual.
Totally reccomend the centre section response!!!!

I'm still gonna save up & get a BB though! I'll justr swap the original back on if I need any warranty work doing
