I`m ordering a STI8 to replace my 172.
Just a few questions, what sort of mpg will I expect to get?
I`m 27 and have a 22 year old wife and have had a quote of £1250,with 5yrsNCB and a good post code, is this a good price? Should I shop to find a better a price? (it`s with Tesco`s)
I`m having the car on contract hire through work, and it`s £40 more a month to have all my servicing, tyres etc. inc. Should I go for that or not? (I`ll be doing 12,000 miles a year.)

Nice one!
I went looking at the new STI and want one!
I would get the £40 per month all in for servicing / tyres as you'll spend more than that for sure.
£1250 is not that bad but i'd look in the 'insurance' section first for other companies, i pay £1100 for my import with a Manchester postcode which are not to good.
Have FUN

Forest172,
I'm afraid you don't buy this car for its "excellent" fuel consumption as that concept does not exist for the STi! If this is important to you then give it back now.
As for insurance, not sure where you live; however from a quote I got recently (circa £2K in a rural area where absolutely nothing ever happens) I would say that, at your age, the quote you have received is amazingly good. Shop around, you can do better.
Only other thing I would say is invest in some advanced driving tuition. This is a very quick car and with the 4 wheel drive, diffs,6 speed gearbox and sometimes over-sensitive ABS, the car can take some getting used to. It is relatively easy to get the car out of shape in the wet if you are not careful (yes I've done it).
Other than these points, enjoy the car and don't be tempted to drive like a pri*k on the highway just because you can go faster than most.
Cheers.
WB
PS Get the geometry done as soon as you can (geometry, not tracking) else you will go through tyres like there's no tomorrow.
PPS Read this board, loads of useful info available re STi ownership.
