How many scoobs have you seen with both number plate lights working?
I know I haven't seen that many.
It normally seems to be the left one that has gone. How weird is that?

Am I weird or has anyone else noticed this?

Had mine sorted FOC at Adams in Aylesbury.

Must comment that this is the dullest thread I have read in a long time.

Its because the screws holding the bulbs in corrode to the point that you have to drill them out. I guess most cant be bothered until both go.....I know I couldn't

Thumbs down

Dealer is always replacing one of mine - every service.

That and me forgetting to top the washer fluid up is costing me a fortune...

LOL @NA.

I brimed my washer fluid up before one service and they still put a bottle in the car

One number plate light and wash fluid topped up.... hmmm that sound familiar, too familiar and costly.

Agreed!

Last service my LHS number plate light was replaced, and I've noticed the bl00dy thing has gone again.

Strangley strange...

My RHS bulb has gone,
Good thing is, it gives spotters something to tell me
what is wrong with my car! (I think it makes them feel better)

I thought it was just me - I'd only had the car two weeks and I had to replace both bulbs. Not only was i annoyed that this hadn't been picked up in the MOT, but it took my an hour using loads of wd-40, a hammer, and about four different screwdrivers to actually get the old screws out to replace the bulbs.

Needless to say I replaced the old screws with some nice shiny new ones, which will no doubt be rusted on by now.

Boring techy bit...

If you are using zinc plated screws then they will corrode quite quickly as the passivating coating applied to them is sacrificial to steel. I suggest you all push the boat out and buy some stainless steel ones (if they're available).

Changed both of mine last night.
Apparantly my wife followed me home a couple of months ago but "forgot" to mention they wern't working.
Good job the old bill didn't notice, they were probably busy hiding in vans with thier new speed cameras !

Used mole grips to get the old screws out, then replaced them with
slotted self tappers that should be easier to get out when they rust.

My car "failed" it's MOT on this last week, or would have had it not been fixed at the same time. Guess what, they had to drill the screws out and put new ones in in new holes cos the old ones were shot. Up shot is both of mine now work.

Obviously a design fault here, I'll be writing to Subaru UK demanding compensation for it...

Very spooky as I noticed only last night that my LH bulb wasn't working. Fortunately a highly technical and complicated tap with a finger got it working - just call me the Fonze!

Cool

By the number of replies I was sure this was code for fooling speed cameras. Am I missing something here ?

Not sure if this has been mentioned but I was told that if one bulb goes then you should replace both (same for headlights / PIAA's etc)
Apparantly if you change just one then there is uneven current going to both bulbs & the other one blows pretty quickly - change both & they are both the same so should last.
This might be boll0cks but just something I was told.
