New STi vs. EVO VII track times

FYI,
a japanese carmag has tested New Impreza
WRX STi spec C and Lancer Evo. VII at Tsukuba Circuit.
Below are the lap track times.
Impreza: 1 min 04.71 sec
Evo VII: 1 min 05.40 sec
(cloudy, 8 degree centigrade)

For comparison, below are the track times for
past generation STi and Evo.
Impreza WRX STi:
Standard : 1 min 07.83 sec; 250 ps/31.2 kgm; Feb 1994
STi I RA : 1 min 06.26 sec; 260 ps/31.0 kgm; Oct 1994
STi II RA : 1 min 06.59 sec; 275 ps/32.5 kgm; Apr 1995
STi III RA : 1 min 05.92 sec; 280 ps/35.0 kgm; Oct 1996
STi IV RA : 1 min 06.84 sec; 280 ps/36.0 kgm; Aug 1997
STi V RA : 1 min 08.85 sec; 280 ps/36.0 kgm; Dec 1998
(probably snowing)
New gen STi RA :1 min 06.56 sec; 280 ps/39.0 kgm; Feb 2001
New gen Spec C :1 min 04.89 sec; 280 ps/39.2 kgm; Mar 2002
(RA or specC is the lightweight ver)

Lancer Evolution
Evo I GSR:1 min 10.90 sec; 250 ps/31.5 kgm; Nov 1992
Evo II RS:1 min 06.52 sec; 260 ps/31.5 kgm; Feb 1994
Evo III GSR:1 min 09.56 sec; 270 ps/31.5 kgm; Apr 1995
Evo IV GSR:1 min 07.00 sec; 270 ps/36.0 kgm; Aug 1996
Evo V RS:1 min 04.69 sec; 280 ps/38.0 kgm; Feb 1998
Evo VI RS:1 min 05.36 sec; 280 ps/38.0 kgm; Feb 1999
Evo VII RS:1 min 04.69 sec; 280 ps/38.0 kgm; Feb 2001
(RS is the lightweight ver)

The Evo7 RS v the C Type is probably a better comparison as both are the lightweight versions of the car, so there is a .02 second difference (which is nothing really )

True true!!

Besides it all turns nasty for subaru as soon as they come over here due to emmissions etc etc.
