Anyone figured out how to make the WRX 01' light?

Diet?

Helium filled tyres?

Seriously though you could remove the spare, sound deadning, radio, air con, spoiler, passengers etc. Unless you're going to race prepare it, there seems to be little that you can do apart from compensate with more power...

Or just buy an STi with the lighter goodies as std.

Has anyone created mods to make the 150kg heavier 01' WRX as light as the original?

It would seem that most of the important lightened parts would come from Japan.

I would venture a guess that the best places to start would be-

1. Magnesium wheels
2. Aluminum doors, hood, trunk
3. Titanium engine internals
4. Removal of sound-deanding material

ANyone else have knowledge or ideas on this?

It already has a very light alloy hood.

There's loads you could do:-
remove spare&jack
remove sound deadening
remove back seats
remove bonnet prop(!)
lighter wheels & engine components
remove carpets
lightweight windows
and on and on...
There's a couple of active threads on i-club on this subject.
