Just been reading Autocars long term test on the Impreza turbo (5dr) and have a query about the performance figures:
0 - 80mph in 9.4s (sounds OKish)
standing qtr in 14.2s @ 87mph
Have they got something wrong here or does it really take 4.8s to get from 80 - 87?
Any thoughts?

Probably a mistake, should have (maybe) said 97mph, as that is about the speed that standard Scoobies that I have seen go through at.
How about this then:
0 - 92.12 mph in 8.361s
Standing quarter 12.64s @ 115.96mph
An extra 23.84mph in 4.279s.....

Mike,
Great idea to help your standing quarter times and ease problems with the diff. Not horsepower gain, how about weight loss bhp/ton. Just some ideas
take out :-
all seats (except drivers)
spare wheel
sunvisors
carpets
door trims
heater
all glass side and rear replace with polycarbonate
car jack (no spare anyway )
any non essential door furniture ie. elec window motor and mechanism (prop window with fibreglass strip)
remove passenger window wiper
remove passenger wing mirror
headlining and electic sunroof and replace with polycarbonate
alloy bonnet
fibreglass wings
small number plate
stereo
weld rear doors and front passenger and remove locks and handles
remove rear spolier (30kg alone)
glass fibre boot lid
cheers

Looks like Autocar mucked up then! Thanks for the confirmation of my suspicions, didn't like the thought that my car on order will die a death after 80!

Stef,
That was done with 385bhp....
Can't help it with no traction off the line (boo-hoo!).
Best so far with 419bhp is:
0-91.32mph in 8.541s (see what I mean about no traction!)
Standing quarter in 12.763 @ 118.44mph
So an extra 27.12 mph in 4.222s - not too shabby!
Hoping to improve that this Sunday!
LOL
Mike
PS Stef, please check your mail....

You can't trust Autocar for anything, if you look in the back under New Cars you'll find that a new UK spec Impreza has 208 hp and air con costs £1500. Come on guys get you act together!
