Is this normal ?
#1
Folks I recently had a front end shunt and as a consequence had new bonnet. Noticed while on a bumpy stretch of motorway that the bonnet (around scoop area) was bouncing up and down a bit as I went over the bumps. Don't know if I haven't noticed this before or whether it is a fault. Anyone noticed this ? Is it normal ?

What MY is it?
Mine's a MY00. At motorway speeds, especially in high winds or on bumps you can see (just) the scoop moving slightly...
(Not the bonnet though.)
Assuming your scoop is only doing it a little bit, I'd say it's perfectly normal.
It's worth having a close look to see that the fixings are all secure - otherwise I wouldn't worry too much about it...

As the owners of any French made cars will tell you, it is one of the side effects of having a lightweight car, the panels are a bit thin. The weight of the scoop in the middle of a large flat expanse of thin material causes it to move when subjected to vertical oscillations.

MY99? - so you've got the 2nd style bonnet with the slightly larger scoop.
Presumably any movement will be slightly more noticable with your (and my) scoop than the older ones.
Not sure if the alloy bonnet makes any difference, but as I said, unless it's bad, I wouldn't worry about it...

P.S. If yours is silver, I'd be happy to swap my steel one for your alloy one
