we have just received our spec and pics on the new uk sti . it looks awsome with the front bumper slightly protruding a bit more than standard, a bigger air intake and scoop, 6 speed gearbox said to be the slickest gear change yet, an upshift light and buzzer that can be set by the driver, blue dials and red needles.front and rear lsd, intercooler spray, variable valve timing or as they call it active valve control,17 inch wheels, head lights similar to the uk 300. and i think a 250-260 bhp engine. 0-60 in 5.2 secs available may/june 02
all in all it looks awsome and on paper it sounds even better

I've seen the pictures too and were'nt that impressed. I think the uk300 looks more aggressive.
sti suspension
17's
Brembo's
headlights (euro spec, made to look like jap spec)
rear spoiler looks too stuck-on (Pete Croney's is by far the best design)
spotlight covers are same as rally car but looks like handy-Andy has been let loose with some MDF and some tec-screws
260bhp with 253lb/ft seems to me like its the same engine as the jap-spec WRX
No doubt i will get flamed but thats just my early impressions, it will probaly look alot better in the flesh "ala uk300". But i just don't think its got enough power to be a STI. I think this is what the uk300 should of been/had and then a more extreme model as the STI. Us Euro's certainly get the ****

well dont every rear spoiler look like it has been bolted on none r blended in. as for a uk300 looking aggresive the girlfriends cinquecento looks more aggresive than 1 of them.
they probably get the power out of the fact that it has variable valve timing something i dont think the older sti's have with a few more mods i.e octane booster you might be able to get a bit more out of it.
all i can say is i love it and if you dont then you can't be a true scooby enthusiast

It is the new sti engione which has 280 ps in japan.
New emission regs in the uk, mean that IM have had to detune to 260ish bhp to allow it to be officially imported.
an btw, vvt doesnt give you more power. It allows you to not have to choose such a compromise to allow the car to be more efficient and drivable and produce lower emissions when on less than wide open throttle.
Having looked at the my01 engine, they have tumble generators too also to allow leaner burning of fuel, if you combine this with vvt/l/p you can meet the newer stricter emissions laws all over the world. I would bet this is the only reason teh car employs it at all.
