jealous little ****ing ****s that do this thing.
I'm so sorry for you mate, there's not many worse things that can happen!
I can't imagine what it must have felt like to be physically threatened like that and then to have the caar driven off.
I'd be in bits with rage/anger/pain as I'm sure you are.

Well done for not being sensible and not being in hospital. Painful as it is you car may be recovered, your insurance will pay out to replace it. You can't replace your face if they'd bashed your head in!

I hope the scum bag that did this gets exactly what's coming to him and his!

Really sorry to hear about this. Well done for doing the right thing and handing over the keys. You get to tell us about it rather than a trip to hospital. Its a real shame you didn't have tracker or the Police might have caught the scum by now

That is terrible. At least you are ok. It is a shame that scum like that can put you off owning another performance car. I am sure I would feel exactly the same after an experience like that and can only sympathise, for what its worth.

i pity whoever would try this with me
and i only hope i would be sensible enough to hand over my keys as it is only a car after all
the thought of some scumbag driving off in my car makes me sick to the stomach
you have my deepest sympathy
hope they catch this lowlife or better still i hope he crashes your car into a tree and dies slowly
(obviously hoping you would get the full cash back from the insurance)

I'm gutted for you mate. I can't imagine how you feel. This just proves that the risks these crazy *******s are willing to take to steal our prized possessions.

I too hope he crashes and burns. Would be rough justice, but deserved.

I'm sorry mate. It's a sh*tty thing to happen but at least you are still here to tell the tale. Metal can be replaced people can't.

Take care of yourself and I hope that the police catch the little *******.

Cool

Only a suggestion but has anyone considered forwarding these threads to the chief constable?? only, if he gets enough of them time and time again he might actually realise there might be a small problem in the country !! and start to do something about it.

Only an idea.

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated.

With regards to the police they arrived within 3-5 minutes of my dialling 999. I can only praise the efforts that they provided. I would like to offer more detail on what the police have been telling me but would rather not for the time being as this thread could potentially be read by the scumbags involved.

The fact that these people entered the house with weapons means that if they are caught they will go down for at best 5 years.

Giles.

**** Muncher, my sympathies! I lived in Cookridge, and had one attempted burglary whilst living there

My sincere sympathies. The attempt really shat me up, I can only imagine what you're feeling. ****.

Really sorry to hear.

Just a good job you handed over the keys. A wise move.

No car is worth risking injury over.

Hope they go down for a long time.

Why do you think there is so much stealing of scoobys:-
trying to export them and sell them on or even try to sell them in this country changing the plates or parts sales ?
ideas ?

seems a bit elaborate for a ram raid car. Unless it's a Wagon.

More than likely those cheap spares in the classified are cars that have been stolen and broken up.
And they more common they get the more they'll want to get.

Just my theory.

Wurzal (don`t know if I spelt that right?) Yes I have reported the same, there was a thread on here abt 2 months ago from Salsa King and two other threads of car hi-jacking in the Nottinghamshire area. I wrote a letter to the Chief Constable of Nottinghamshire with a copy to the Nottm Evening Post and a letter to The Rt Hon David Blunkett MP, together with the facts of the threads without naming names of course. There was also an article in the Daily Mail on Saturday (last week) (Mr Heffer`s column) on the same subject. I have also given him the same facts in the hope that the authorities, powers that be etc, are made aware how strongly the ordinary man in the street feels on this subject. I am of the opinion that the more this type of criminal acts are rammed down the throats of our government and Chief Constables the more notice they might take. Dare I suggest that instead of moaning on this net you take the matter up with the people that have the power to change the situation.

****, just editing and it deleted the original first post in this thread.

Just to re-iterate.

At 2.30am on Monday morning while I was staying at a friends house in Cookridge, Leeds two people broke in. I was asleep on the sofa and was disturbed by noises. I woke up and found a youth (about 18 years old) standing there with a piece of wood the size of a baseball bat demanding the keys to my WRX or otherwise smash my face in. I did not attempt to stop him and told him where to find the keys.

I cannot describe how sick I felt when I heard my pride and joy being driven off at high speed.

On the bright side, I am still in one piece physically but mentally it will take a little time. I seriously doubt I will ever own another piece of high performance machinery after this event.

The car is a white 95WRX pre-97 face lift.

Reg : M868 XPP

Slightly lowered due to Leda suspension
Clear front and side indicators
17" Oz Superleggara wheels with Toyo Proxy rubber
Standard tiny rear wing
Electric aerial which is rusty
Rear wiper
Rear screen has 'Number Nine' faintly written across the upper half. This text was from an old sticker that must have been on the rear screen at one point and has left the 'Number Nine' mark.
AP6-pot calipers
Power engineering Twin pipe exhaust (slightly large than standard Impreza pipes)

Hello Giles

I only know you by sight. You and I had a little dash up the M40 J4-J5 a few months back and you responded to my 'was it you' post. Your car was an amazing piece of kit and I am desperately sorry to hear about this incident. At least you are in one piece yourself. I only hope that those responsible lose their liberty ...and a few bits of anatomy dangling between their legs! The w4ankers

As for the "ram raid" post - I'm speaking from experience. These guys use anything for ramraids.... They'll stuff a large car through a set of roller doors, and make off in the fast car..... OR they'll use the fast car as a decoy.

Just normal crime prevention advice.

Box the car in on the drive (if you can) with other cars, or parallel park with other cars very close, making it almost impossible to get out.

Only have 1 set of keys in the house..... I've hidden my second set.

Lock the car up well (disklok etc), maybe keep the alarm fob separate to the keys?

Maybe have a dummy key cut? So that you hand over the dummy key? Generally these tw@ts are buzzing and won't hang around for long.

Keep the neighbours appraised to be wary of any sudden noises in the middle of the night, so they call the police if they're woken by the TV on full blast, for example?

Have the house alarmed, that can isolate certain sections, including entry points to "beep" when doors are opened.

I could go on, but these are for starters.

All I can say is that you're legally entitled to defend yourself and your property using REASONABLE force. I'm prepared. That's all I'll say. (note I said DEFEND and not ATTACK). The law is quite specific here.
