Hi all,

I keep hearing a slight whistle from around the wing mirror area when the window is down. Its more annoying than anything else. Has anyone had this same issue and have you dealt with it? if so how?

Mine does it. I ignore it. I think I read once you can do something with double-sided sticky tape (no, really) by taking the mirror off, sticking some on the bit that's left and then sticking the mirror back on. I think the tape fills in the gap to stop it whistling.

Cheers Carl,

But sounds like to much hassle so I'll just grin and bare it!

Hi again Plantie!

Sometimes the noise is caused by wind passing through the vertical gap between the door mounting and the mirror housing.

Fold the mirror in so it's back against the window, then stick some masking tape (or other 'thick' tape) on the inner-end bit of the housing that's now exposed. This helps to reduce the vertical gap when you swing the mirror back into place.

Hope that makes sense? All I can say is give it a go!

Cheers,
Steve

Yes, that was it. This should be in the list of fixes in the SIDC FAQ.

Cheers Steve,

I'll pop down to Halfords this weekend and give it a go.

Are you going to the Bracknell meet on Thursday? ?

I had this on MY01 which was very annoying.
After alot of fiddling about I found a sticker between the mirror and its fixing ( a sort of quality control sticker) this had become slightly unstuck and was whistling at any speed above 20mph.
Check to see if yours has the same.

i get it on the passenger side window when its closed!!!! i think its cus the window glass has now started to go beyond the mirror rubber, as its now split and then the seels not as good as it was.

can this be sorted too, or does it mean re setting the door glass again on its runners!
