Question

I have a low mileage sti2 RA with de-cat pipe & 17" alloys. I love it but maybe in the future if I feel like a change I think an evo 5 would be the car to sway me from the scoobie path..
Can any of you good folk out there give me a personal review of the pro's, con's and performance differences etc..

Reckon the sti would be quite a bit quicker - quite a lot better power/weight ratio. Evo 5 has about 20 odd Lbs/ft more, but is 200kg heavier. Probably a nicer car to be in though, more mod cons etc. I heard also that compared to the Evo 6, the 5 is too harsh for the UK's roads, but as I say, this is just hear say. I had an Sti2 RA mind you and it nearly shook my teeth out...

I sold my de-catted WRX for a Evo 6 and it is much quicker more responsive and the steering is far quicker! Cant beat the old noise of the full scoobysport though! Not much was changed on the 6 from the 5 except the suspension which is still rock hard but thats what makes the handling stunning.

Get an evo they are cool.

Just to be awkward i have to say the opposite.

I test drove evo5 and sti5 back to back.
really wasn't that keen on the evo.

Though i have to say the evo 6 seems a lot better. Just wish they would sort out that steering lock and the fuel tank tho.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the gen and opinions!
I am pretty knocked out by the RA and it is still very much a new toy, the suspension is firm enough for the handling to be special feeling: confidence-giving I suppose, but not IMHO teeth-loosening! I think I might have to save up eventually for the 6..
