Thumbs down

Just caught bits of this on Central News.

MG's latest advertising campaign ( the Z Cars ) is coming under fire for advocating speed and 'boy racer' type attitude on the road.

Same breath they mentioned that sales were actually up for Rover.

Is it just me thats getting brassed off with the whole anti speed fever that seems to be gripping the Nation.

Its a plus!!

No such thing as bad press imo. They have got several minutes on prime time new worth millions and no doubt the Daily Mail will appeal to their beardy readers to string John Towers up for advocating nmass murder on the roads.

Excellent!! If anything MG need to to relaunch MG as a genuinely sporty brand and this is a major plus for them.ITV even had the car zipping all over the place on an airstrip and a driver can heard in the background saying "well they bloody shift".

superb,up ya ***** beardy bollox!!You've just bought the MGs to attention of several million car owners who never knew they existed.

Now what they could really do with is a speed test up the M1 at the dead of night (it'll have to be). Put some young British F1 driver at the wheel, say Jenson. Get Jenson nicked (a quiet work with some bloke in Northamptonshire is bound to get them frothing at the mouth).

Jenson then claims, I thought I was doing 80mph, by these cars shift.

OH. I think that's been done before.....

Well do it again!!!!

Typical anti-speeding propaganda - you have to be at least 17 years old to drive a car, so you should have a little common sense as to what is right and wrong (yeh, i know, most don't - but please don't start a rat-hole!).

However, as far as i am aware nobody made an official complaint when MG left TWO of their "bright yellow sports cars" parked on two of the Police humps on the M42 the other week. God knows how many laws they broke on that one - parking in the hard shoulder, parking in a Police-only area, leaving a vehicle unattended when it is not an emergency. Also, the tailbacks this stunt caused (by rubbernecking drivers) is far more dangerous than a bit of spirited driving (in appropriate conditions, etc. etc.).

Bloody do-gooders haven't got a clue

I also spied the yellow rover in the police layby on the M5 round Birmingham.

I am surprised they got away with that stunt.

Good idea though by the marketing boys methinks.
